Hyperactive muscles cause both static lines; visible when the face is at rest and dynamic lines; visible with expression i.e. smiling, frowning, squinting. Anti-wrinkle injections allows the skin to rest, resulting with softening of existing lines and wrinkles or prevention of forming lines.

Lines and wrinkles are also caused by the normal process of ageing. The skin becomes transparent as we age due to thinning of the epidermis (surface layer of the skin) and a loss of elastin and collagen causing the skin to become loose. It is also caused by other factors such as genetics, sun exposure and diet. Injections should be used in combination with skin treatments and skin products.
